Leaders take care but walkers responsible for own safety.
Over the past couple of years several people, some of whom were among the original members of the very popular U3A walking group, expressed a wish for a series of shorter and less strenuous walks as they felt no longer able to tackle 7 or 8 miles. With this in mind a group of us got together and came up with some ideas which might fit the bill. We decided that each walk should be no longer than 2 - 3 miles and should finish with a 'sociable' time at a coffee shop. We struggled a little over the most suitable day but eventually came up with the first Friday in the month, meeting at the Cattle Market (Eastgate) Carpark at 1.00pm.
Our first walk was in May 2014 and so far we have walked at Bainton, Burton Agnes and Risby Park and there are future plans for Kilnwick Percy, Market Weighton and many more. The walkers have certainly lived up to their name, especially the sociable bit and we're sure that should you wish to join us you would appreciate the friendliness as well as the gentle walks in the beautiful countryside. If you wish to know more please ring Margaret or June.
